Relaxed track pant
The standard Essentials sweatpant – roomy through the hip and thigh, taper from the knee, ribbed cuff. Black, grey, navy, beige, coral.
Straight-leg
Same waist and fleece, no taper – falls straight over a sneaker. The 90s and Campus lines. Longer in the leg; size as usual.
Lightweight 1977
Thinner loopback fleece for spring and autumn, or year-round in Brisbane and Perth. Sits slightly closer through the thigh.
Sweatpants vs track pants vs trackies – are they the same thing?
Yes. Here's why the page says "sweatpants"
"Sweatpants" is the brand's own term and what most people type into Google; "track pants" and "trackies" are what Australians say out loud. Same garment, same fleece, same fit. We use both so you find the page either way.
What's the inseam and do they come in lengths?
One length per size, cut long – roughly 76 cm inseam on a medium so the cuff stacks on the shoe. Over 190 cm, go up a size for the extra leg; under 165 cm, the ribbed cuff can be pushed up to the ankle without bunching.
Will the pants match my hoodie's colour exactly?
Same drop, yes. Different drops can vary by a shade, which is why the tracksuit sets exist – top and bottom from the same roll. If you already own the black hoodie, black pants are the safest match; black varies least between batches.

Where they get worn across Australia
- Southern wintersMelbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Adelaide – daily from May to September, under a coat on the coldest mornings.
- East-coast eveningsSydney and Newcastle – shorts by day, track pants once the southerly hits.
- Brisbane to DarwinLightweight 1977 only, mostly for flights, cinemas and aircon offices.
- Everywhere, working from homeThe grey or navy pant with a plain tee is the national WFH uniform.
Which colour first?
If you own one Essentials hoodie, buy the pant in the same colour – that's the tonal set. If you own several, grey pants go under every hoodie shade and hide fleece lint better than black; black pants are the sharper choice for the city and the easiest to keep looking new. Beige and coral are the warm-weather colours that come into their own from September when the lighter hoodies come out.
